The Face Off

This peculiar picture was taken outside a temple in Rajasthan, where a domestic cat and a langur were having a confrontation, probably for territorial space which ended peacefully because both of them are equally matched. This temple is host to a variety of wildlife ranging from from langurs nd monkeys to a no. bird species.

The Urban Sunset

The setting sun is one of the most splendid scenes to capture. i have taken a number of shots of the setting sun mostly from very picturesque locations and they all turned out very beautiful. But this was something very different, taken from the top of a building, it shows that where ever the sunset be taken from it always has a lot of beauty.

A Rufous Treepie

The Golden Jackal

This shot of a lone jackal was taken early in the morning near a

Translucent Glow

This picture is a good example of back-lighting, where the source of light is behind the subject and thus makes the subject glow as well as appear translucent(as in this case).Since it was evening time, there was ambient lighting and in spite of taking the shot against the light i got a good exposure.

Illuminating Darkness

Windowed Vision

This shot is something completely out my imagination.I was walking in the neighborhood with my camera looking for something interesting to shoot, when i came across this building with bright blue windowpanes, just then something caught my eye and i took the shot.I guess it turned out to be a decent enough pic.

Rosy Bliss

The contrasting green background makes the pink colour of the flowers stand out and makes the shot appear vibrant and colourful. This picture was taken using a Nikon D3000 digital SLR with an AF-Nikkor 18-55mm lens.

Ivory Petals

The Great Himalayan Black Bear

A Painted Stork in Flight

This picture being one of my first real attempts with a SLR camera,i think is one my best. This picture was shot at Delhi zoo using a Nikon F-50 film based SLR with a AF-Nikkor 80-200mm lens. It was a beautiful winter afternoon and there were hundreds of painted storks in the trees surrounding the lake. I was looking for a good shot of these birds, when i saw a stork taking flight from the corner of my eye, i quickly positioned my camera for the shot, adjusted the focus by approximately judging the distance of the bird and took the shot. in the end it turned out to be a really nice shot.

Camouflaged Cheetal Stag

The coat of the spotted Deer or Cheetal is such that it provides a very good camouflage with the surroundings, which is essential for there survival in the wild.

The Great White Pelican

Close Up of a Sambar Fawn

For this shot, i had a very rare opportunity of getting very close to a sambar deer in the wild. This shot was taken in Sariska wildlife sanctuary and i was using a Nikon D3000 digital SLR with a AF Nikkor 80-200mm lens.Even though a large focal lenght gave me the advantage of being able to zoom in really close to the subject, but since i was already very close to the animal i had to use a moderate focal length of 100-120mm.Though i would have been better off had i used a smaller lens but in-spite of that i think i got a good enough shot.

Portrait of a Gray Langur

This picture of a juvenile gray langur was taken during my visit to Sariska wildlife reserve. It was late afternoon and the sun was shining beautifully when i saw this langur perched upon a tree. There was a perfect blend of shadows and illumination on the langur as the light was being filtered through the leaves, which gave a nice effect to the shot.

Pair of Cheetal Stag

This picture was taken during my visit to Sariska wildlife reserve in Rajasthan in January 2010.I was using a Nikon D3000 with an AF-Nikkor 80-200mm lens.It was evening time and we were heading back to our guest house when i spotted these two cheetal stags sitting at a distance, blending in very well with the surroundings.Even though the lighting conditions were not very good i managed to get a decent shot.

Sambar Deer

A classic example of the interrelationship between wild animals is depicted in this picture.Where a Rufous Treepie is sitting on a Sambar fawn and feeding on the parasitic insects on the deer's body thus helping it keep its body clean.
